At the beginning of the property, you will find the Peñarroya Castle, 12 kilometers from Argamasilla de Alba, along CM-3115 road that leads to Ruidera and next to the Peñarroya reservoir dam. Captain Alonso Pérez de Sanabria seized the castle from the Moors on September 8, 1198. As a result of the reconquest of the fortress, the image of Our Lady of Peñarroya was found, and it has been revered since then, among others, by the neighbors of Argamasilla. The landscape that surrounds the property was the one chosen by the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem as one of their most important centres.

The town of Argamasilla de Alba is located just 10 kilometers away from the property. This mainly agricultural town, dedicates its efforts to the growing of cereals, melons and wine grapes, with which our excellent wines are made. Founded by Don Diego de Toledo, son of the Duke of Alba and Abbot of the Order of Saint John, Argamasilla is “the place in La Mancha whose name I do not want to remember” (As the Quixote starts…) that is to say, the authentic homeland of Don Alonso Quijano, Don Quixote.

It is said that the legend of Don Quixote began to be forged in this town and in the Medrano Cave, where Miguel de Cervantes was imprisoned.

Once staying at Pago los Cerrillos, both the aforementioned Cave of Medrano and the Monumental unfinished Church of San Juan Bautista from the s. XVI worth a visit.

Of course, in the surroundings, the typical wind mills of the region and main characters as well of the aforementioned Masterpiece of Spanish Literature, Don Quixote de la Mancha, cannot be missed.
